In Palette Talk we have the
opportunity to share news, views, and thoughts.
This was an
exceedingly hot summer so our outdoor class fled for shade. The vast
majority of our painting was done on a private 15,000 acre estate
where we were treated to the soothing sounds of small trout streams,
an immense variety of butterflies, and always a deer or two watching
us.
It was so hot that
one of the younger students stood in a small stream with her
easel.

I did a quick
painting of the girl's bags on a rock.
The vast majority
of the paintings which are done on location are very reasonably
priced starting at only $300.
I treasure the time
spent painting on location as these art works exude the immediacy of
the moment ,much like a burst of fresh air. They have the "look and
feel" of the outdoors. Sometimes, when we paint too much from
photographs, our work begins to look "stale" and overdone. You can
almost "smell" the difference when a painting is done on
location.

Here are some recent
comments from clients:
"You did a fabulous
job of painting our home at sunset. It looks beautiful above the
mantle of my son's new home. It has become his prized
possession." MW
"You brought out the
features and defined them so that he became alive. It made all the
difference in the world." KC (working from several different
snapshots to develop a suitable black and white drawing for a
stone memorial)
"Do you know that
that painting is the exact spot where my son S. got
married? It will make a wonderful anniversary gift."
